Exchange - The Netherlands (2010) Tlačiť
Business Academy in Považská Bystrica participated in an exchange project with the Netherlands. The project started on 22nd March this year, and lasted until 27th March. Some students from II.A class went to Dutch families for an exchange as their language experience.

How was our language week?

Monday – We gathered together at the airport in Vienna, we passed the check-in using our English and we successfully flew to Münster‎.. There was a bus waiting for us and it took us to Holland. To be more accurate, it took us to a Dutch school in a city of Hengelo – ROC van Twente. We met our exchange partners from Holland there and we went to their houses. Everyone spent the whole day with their family.

Tuesday – Again in ROC van Twente school. We were told the story of the building - could you believe it used to be a manufacturing hall? – and they showed us their school. It was really colossal. We had lunch at their canteen and then we went to a museum called Old Hengel. After seeing the museum we went to the Townhall of Hengelo, we also went to the tower of the townhall, and the scenery from there was awesome! Then we went home for dinner with family and then we returned to Hengelo again, all the exchange students spent the evening together in the local pub Plentje.

Wednesday – This time we went to a city called Enschede. From the railway station, we went to see the museum Twentse Welle. There was everything from mammoths to middle-age households! Then we had some free time in the city centre and we were looking forward to our visit to the Grolsch brewery. The evening was spent in a nice atmosphere of the Plentje pub again.

Thursday – Again in the city of Enschede, but this time we visited the football stadium of FC Twente. It was really huge and amazing. There was also a little big surprise waiting for us – we met their star players Stoch and Rendla, both native Slovaks! When we left the stadium with their autographs, we headed for Yip’s bowling centre. After we enjoyed a game of bowling and good dinner there, we were free to go round the town shopping, and sure we did. Then our favourite Plentje again – we really loved that place.

Friday – From Hengelo straight to Amsterdam! We visited Wax Museum of Madame Tussaud and then we enjoyed a nice round trip on a boat in the canals of Amsterdam. Then we were free to go as we please and of course, none of us missed the chance to see the famous Red Light District. We spent the evening enjoying ourselves again in Plentje, knowing this is our last night there.

Saturday– The last day in the Netherlands. We packed up our stuff, said goodbye to our host families and a minibus took us to Münster‎. From Münster‎ we flew back to Vienna, knowing we had spent a week that we will never ever forget.
